CGSL - Directors
CGSL is managed by Brian Baldwin and David Larkins. David and Brian have joint experience of working in the gas industry that totals more than 50 years.
ÂBrian Baldwin has worked in the utilities industry since 1976, working on installation and maintenance projects and contracts across the UK. He is most experienced in the gas distribution industry having worked for 14 years in the engineering department of British Gas (when the industry was vertically integrated), for contractors to the gas industry and latterly for an independent Utility Installation Provider (UIP) in which he developed the siteworks business of the company.
Early experience in the gas industry was with British Gas and as well as working as an operational manager Brian also worked in regional and company headquarters developing technical policy documents, Codes of Practice, period contract documents, training material and pipe and jointing development projects.
Subsequently Brian worked as a contractor to British Gas and in general construction and latterly for one of the first UIP companies developing the processes now adopted by the GTs for UIP installations, heading the siteworks department of the company as Operations Director responsible for all aspects of network construction.
Brian holds a BTech in Mechanical Engineering and is a Member of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers.
David Larkins has more than 30 years experience of the management of utilities installation, maintenance and operations, with particular emphasis on gas distribution operations. This experience has been gained from working with a number of utilities’ contractors as a Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Office Manager and Project Manager for major network extension projects. His recent experience has been in the project management of the construction of new gas networks including:
- - Commercial and domestic networks and associated meters.
- - The maintenance and replacement of privately owned networks supplying commercial premises and social housing.
- - Technical audit of existing and new installation.
David has wide experience of the gas industry and has worked with all of the Distribution Networks and Independent Gas Transporters, the gas suppliers and many of the Utility Infrastructure Providers
